Overview

Luis F. Calvo is a litigation attorney in Taylor Anderson’s San Diego office.  Luis has successfully litigated cases in federal courts, as well as in New York and Texas state courts, and arbitral forums. His practice encompasses a broad range of legal issues, including insurance coverage, business disputes, investment claims, employment law, and intellectual property matters. Luis also advises clients on cross-border disputes both within the U.S. and internationally.

Luis began his career at a law firm in Mexico City where he represented Fortune 100 companies in government contracts and antitrust matters. Luis earned a J.D. degree from Fordham University School of Law, where he served as an Editor of the Journal of Corporate and Financial Law and was a member of Fordham’s Moot Court team. Luis also received the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award for his work in Fordham’s Securities Arbitration Clinic and Legal Outreach. Luis further received a Master of Laws in International Business & Trade Law from Fordham University School of Law and a Bachelor of Laws from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico.

  • Obtained a $1 million judgment following a multi-day bench trial in the Southern District of New York: Greg Holland v. Thomas Matos, Nanci Matos and Bestlife Gifts LLC, Case No. 18-cv-6697(KMK)
  • Secured dismissal of $400k breach of contract AAA Arbitration claim
  • Defense jury verdict in a construction dispute in Texas State Court
  • Directed verdict in investment dispute involving non-traded REITs
